The Diari Més newspaper has published an article explaining the Senvafun project by Frusleva and Eurecat:
At Fruselva, together with the technology center Eurecat, we have developed a new functional food for the elderly, designed to help prevent sarcopenia and osteoarthritis.
This project, which we have named Senvafun, has been one of those selected by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism within the Next Generation program of the European Union, within the framework of the PERTE Agroalimentario I call. A total of 260 companies from all over Spain applied for this call, and 170 million euros were finally awarded to different projects, including ours.
Although we are an internationally recognized company in the field of infant nutrition, we decided to go a step further and focus our research also on the senior population. With the progressive aging of the population, we believe it is our duty to contribute to healthy aging.
We knew that developing this new strategic line would entail significant investment and effort, but we were prepared to take it on. In this sense, having the support of PERTE and the collaboration of Eurecat have been key factors that have reinforced the momentum of the project.
Senvafun is presented in puree format in a pouch -a plastic bag- which facilitates both consumption and transport. This format is especially useful for elderly people with dysphagia (difficulty in swallowing). It is also convenient to use at home, in nursing homes or hospitals.
Our objective is clear: to prevent two of the most frequent diseases among the elderly. Sarcopenia, which involves a degenerative loss of muscle mass associated with aging, and osteoarthritis, which affects the joints. Both hinder movement and limit the ability to lead an active life. We want to be part of the solution.
To guarantee the product’s efficacy, we rely on Eurecat, whose team has scientifically evaluated the formula developed by our R&D department. As a specialized technology center, Eurecat has provided us with the necessary rigor to ensure that our food offers real health benefits. Functional food is booming, and we firmly believe in its potential: foods that, in addition to nourishing, actively contribute to well-being.
